**Disclaimer: this is NOT a political piece. The message is strictly about how powerful the Law of Attraction is in our world and how our thoughts are helping or hindering the current state of chaos or bliss that we are experiencing.**
Feast your eyes on any piece of media these days and find a barrage of judgments come at you about your ways of living. Media is filled with opinions on how to eat, sleep, work and even care for your home. Peer pressure is the name of the game when it comes to marketing and advertising. By virtue of repetition in viewing or hearing the same message, we as a society are brainwashed into believing that THIS is the way to be when we may never even know HOW it works or understand the implications this path may have on the world around us. If you listen enough, you’ll find yourself addicted to products and feeling guilty for not being loyal to a company when they release the latest and greatest product. You’re programed to search out the best bargain despite it’s quality or impact on the environment and if you buy something simply because it’s labeled eco-friendly you may have just been scammed by the lack of integrity in the packaging and absent government regulation in truthful labeling. This is the energy of consumerism. It’s a buy now, worry later mentality that seeks instant gratification.
Kabbalah teaches that this is the illusion of free will, influence from society that goes under the radar to shape our choices. We think our choices are our own though a strong undercurrent is heavily influenced by top leaders and big pharma who want us to trust in their slight of hand techniques for manipulation of sales. Do they really wish to make our world a better place or do they seek only to sell us their toxic products for bottom line profits with no care or concern of how they will harm us? Can we really blame them for how things are going in this world when we continue to be swayed by their fancy packaging? At what point do we take ownership for this flow and end the insanity of this blind faith in marketing?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hopping on a soap box to make anyone wrong here. In fact, these very actions, while being truly capitalistic, are actually quite out of soulful integrity…but that’s not even the point here. Capitalism isn’t even to blame as WE created it…
Pick up a copy of The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and you will find that even ancient Toltec wisdom teaches that WE are co-creators in this reality. It’s only recent science like Quantum Physics and it’s leaders like Dr. Amit Goswami featured in powerful documentaries, What the Bleep: Down the Rabbit Hole and The Quantum Activist, who are proving this very theory to be scientifically correct! The Secret came out to herald the use of Law of Attraction over a decade after the teachings of Abraham had been sharing the intricacies of its inner workings to followers. The world is just now coming around to see possibility in how our thoughts truly create the experiences of our lives.
One of Abraham’s lessons that stuck out for me was the notion of living by default. If we do not actively create the life we live, then our experience is based on what others are creating. Simply put, we become a victim of circumstance simply by choosing to let go of control. This is a far cry from surrendering into the love of the universe and allowing it to guide us. Rather, it implies an outer pull to have someone else to point the finger at, a machine of excuses that runs 24/7 which allows us to never move forward because he or she or they are doing something to stand in our way or making it bad for us all. How much easier is it to point the finger than take ownership for the way things are going in our life?
With this innate level of power, what stops us from creating the reality we truly want to experience? ‘Thought forms’ are influenced by our perceptions, beliefs and covenants. When we anchor in a notion about what reality should or shouldn’t be, we shape the way our thoughts react and respond to the world around us. These responses create and reframe the next experience and eventually our outside world reflects and validates those agreements that we’ve made with ourselves about ‘how life is,’ leaving us with a shell of what truth really is.
In practical terms: if we believe the government, corporations or even a culture is evil, if we believe people cannot be trusted, if we fear failing, if our self doubt prevents us from showing up in life, then all our experiences on the outside will reflect this. You see, the universe doesn’t distinguish between the do’s and don’ts. When we say “Walk for Lupus” or “Stop Bullying” we are continuing to anchor in the complications of illness or emotional turmoil with the simplicity of focus on a particular thought. True, we are wanting the intention to be healing and togetherness but all the universe hears is the most prominent thought: Lupus or Bullying, for example.
If we want REAL change we must first change these thoughts and perceptions within ourselves. If we feel bullying must stop in the outside world, we must first stop bullying ourselves with toxic self judgments and doubts, teaching our children not that bullying is bad but empowering them to see truth so they know who they can trust and who to walk away from. If we want terminal illness to stop, we need to get to the root of why the illness began in the first place and bring in the truth to create a soulful resolution. These roots may be deep in the psyche, hiding from us in the conscious mind but heavily impacting and shaping the way we see and feel life. They are easy to reach when you are open and have the right tools to access them.
The message on change is this: if we want things to change outside, we must first change the way we view and perceive the world as THIS is what creates the world we experience.
In his book, Thou Shall Prosper, Rabbi Daniel Lapin highlights a principle theory that we as humans have been misjudged as “consumers” when in fact we are “creators” of our reality. Now, when we think in terms of living by default then YES we are consumers. We are consuming emotions, thoughts and beliefs that are not our own and buying into the system of brainwashing to think we are unworthy, incapable and therefore must live in fear and judgement that we cannot be trusted with our own choices. We see ads telling us to “ask your doctor about…” urging us to not listen to our body but trust an outside source who “knows” way more because they’ve got a degree to prove their worth. But what of our own worth?
Our indoctrination into the physical world programs us to believe that we are not in control, that “that’s just the way life is,” with no hope of changing things unless some outside entity shows favor upon us and changes it. Culture chains us to believe that our experiences are our true identity rather than just a path of wisdom and we are disempowered from trusting in our own gut instincts by trying to prove our worth to society by way of virtuous action. We are not taught to create from the ground up, to use the power of thought to shape our evolutionary process. Many of us spend endless adult years trying to re-invent ourselves as we’re righting the wrongs of our youth. Through this stuttering of life we become the ultimate consumers of energy, time, money and precious resources having no clue of what we are really doing to the whole of humanity with our denial of co-creative powers…all contributing to the Earth’s health decline. Sadly, humans are hiding from the truth that they have the power to change it and fear taking ownership for it as they fear the heaviness of burden.
The real question on consumerism: How can we blame anyone without taking ownership ourselves?
We can’t. This is the biggest conundrum.
If you chose to take control for your mental ecology, decided here and now to be a conscious creator in your reality and committed to stepping into your greatness with trust and conviction, how would your life shift? If you chose to be a creator rather than a consumer, how would the world around you shift? If your actions were not guided by advertisements or big marketing campaigns, how would your relationships with food, people and money shift?
You see, the very thing in life we are all trying to fight is not on the outside, it’s within. It’s the inner demons we fear most, the judgment for the ugliness on the inside and the resistance we have to allowing love in that creates real burden. Fighting against the love of the universe drags us down! We can’t stand the notion of taking ownership for this co-creation when we don’t feel we have enough energy for ourselves. We spend our lives trying to go with the flow of society so we don’t stand out or overpower someone else, holding back our celebrations in fear that another will be offended or feel bad that they are not at the same level. Yet, all the while we wish that someone would actually hear or see us for who we really are and love us unconditionally. To simply act, choose, think, consume goods, energy or resources without clear, purposeful intentions we fall into the trap of the very thing we hate about the outside world. We get lost in the shallow shuffle of life and feel empty because the one thing we want most is to love and be loved. We cannot achieve this as a simple, brainwashed consumer. Our goals cannot be met if we follow blindly. Lives cannot evolve or manifest into greatness if we live in default, waiting for others to change so we can follow.
The TRUE change in life doesn’t come from changing everyone else…it comes in making YOU better today than you were yesterday by consciously creating your day, your life and your reality. If that’s all you do, the world will be a much better place simply because you consciously co-exist.
